Dr Samantha Hayes

Dr Sam Hayes is a sustainability professional with extensive experience in crafting organisational sustainability strategies. In her capacity as Managing Consultant with Bioneering Australia she works with clients to develop their sustainability vision, strategy and governance in a way that meets compliance demands and moves ambitiously towards regeneration. Her work straddles both strategic guidance and pragmatic implementation support, including the development and delivery of technical roadmaps, procurement strategies, management system improvements, reporting systems and disclosures, and R&D collaboration.

Sam’s work has spanned construction, logistics and transport, mining, industrial, government, investment, ICT and education sectors, where she has developed and implemented award-winning environmental and sustainability strategies. She has been responsible for establishing and leading energy and sustainability functions across international project portfolios with hundreds of dynamic sites and multi-billion-dollar revenue.

With a PhD in Biomimetic Engineering, Sam has been working with global leaders to explore how biomimicry can be practically applied in the built environment, particularly in infrastructure applications. Her research includes numerous peer reviewed publications and book chapters, with a focus on bridging the gap between theory and application.

Sam also holds a Master of Environmental Law from the University of Sydney, as well as a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Sustainable Development) with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland.
